Part of an archipelago made up of eight main islands and a further 100 named islands and cays, Providenciales is home to both the third-largest barrier reef in the world as well as Grace Bay beach, which has consistently been voted \u2018Best Beach in the World\u2019.<\/p><p>To discover what makes this island paradise one of the Caribbean\u2019s best-kept-secrets for visiting yachts, we caught up with the South African born former-Manager of Blue Haven Marina, Bruce Walker.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47fd762 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"47fd762\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The marina is currently fully booked - what is it about Turks &amp; Caicos that draws people here?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-00bc612 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"00bc612\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Essentially, we have everything that the rest of the Caribbean has to offer, we\u2019re just a bit quieter about it. We\u2019re not as well-known as somewhere like the Bahamas which can get very busy in high season. It also means that our berthing rates are very compelling compared with other destinations \u2013 it\u2019s really good value for money to stay here! We have sports fishermen, superyacht owners and friends and families on charter. We also see quite a number of sailors \u2013 a mix of smaller vessels sailing around the world and larger sailing yachts on charter, often catamarans. These are the Blue Haven resort, which is adjacent to us, and the Alexandra resort, which is right in the middle of the famous Grace Bay Beach. Even just looking at the colour of the water, it is such a beautiful deep blue, the best I\u2019ve ever seen, which you just don\u2019t see in St Maarten, St Barths or anywhere else \u2013 it\u2019s absolutely amazing.<\/p><p>The water in the marina is also incredibly clear and clean due to the current flowing through it. We\u2019re also located at the edge of a mangrove swamp which is a breeding ground for turtles and all sorts of wildlife \u2013 you can see dolphins, nurse sharks, turtles, and a variety of colourful fish \u2013 there are so many different types of fish I can\u2019t even name them all! It\u2019s a particularly special time of year at the moment as the humpback whales are passing through, for both mating and calving, which is incredible to see.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b5a37bc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b5a37bc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What are your insider tips for a trip to Turks &amp; Caicos?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d7a9a7a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d7a9a7a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>We are very well known for our fishing here, and the snorkeling and scuba diving are also amazing due to the visibility of the water. At Blue Haven we have an entrance to the south which is extremely shallow, and another entrance\/exit to the north which is used by the majority of vessels.
